watercolor of a crabHsi Mei Yates paints Chinese watercolors of plants, fish , birds, butterflies and bugs.  She says “My inspiration is Mother Nature and her beautiful birds, fish, insects and landscapes”. She also has a studio in Building 5 at the Workhouse Center for the Arts, which is filled to the brim with her work. Hsi-Mei  Yates uses Chi as an inspiration for her paintings. She describes it as follows: “Chi is the energy which flows from within and gives (her) inner peace while painting in the unique Chinese brush stroke style.”  Check out her website on my contacts page.
