The art above is from a series by Shawna Moore called “Prayer Flags”, and each 20”x20”work is painted with encaustic on panel. The title of the series refers to Buddist prayer flags. These flags typically hang in a line to be blown in the wind, and are thought to spread compassion and peace. . Shawna Moore has captured this flag on a panel, with the central image being branches and leaves. Through multiple layers of color and paint , she seems to invite the viewer to mediate upon the impermanence of leaves, beeswax and color.
