Artist Lord Frederic Leighton created “Flaming June” in oil paints in 1895. In the 1960’s the painting failed to find a bidder at an auction at the small price of $140. Luis A Ferre, an Industrialist from Puerto Rico , bought the painting for the  Ponce Museum of Art In Puerto Rico. Hence, you will find copies of this portrait everywhere in Puerto Rico in both print form and sculpture. I find it interesting how tastes in paintings change, and how one country can find so much affection for a piece of art.
