Before the Trees Caught Fire, 60″ x 60,” encaustic with wire and Swarovski crystals, 2023
This painting is part of my series on Global Warming and reflects a visit to see the Redwood and Sequoiya trees in California.
There is something magical about being in the presence of trees that are 1000 years old.
The winged creatures are monarch butterflies, who travel from Canada and colder parts of the US to spend the winter on the California coast.
Angels toss the stars into the sky as a mother shows her child the beauty of this woods.
