This painting has a grid structure with 16 squares.  The trumpet flower , which grows in summer in Virginia, sits in the foreground. In the background . we see Bavon Beach, which borders the Chesapeake Bay. This view has changed over the last twenty years, as sea rise has caused the loss of beach front and the addition of rocks placed in front of houses protect the homes.
